Last night was spent with Natalia and Amira at Woodland, a quaint little bar and restaurant on the hill of South Congress. We sipped discounted cocktails while speaking of Europe and where writing and journalism is heading while we try to pin it down. After an encouraging talk about what to do with our lives, I headed out with Jake to see some Comedy Central stand up at the Velveeta room. What can 5 dollars get you knowadays, other than 2 shots on sixth street and a collect call to get a Pedicab? Entrance to see some of the worst comics since Dane Cook, and only half as handsome. After trying too hard to keep from rolling my eyes after the 3rd date rape joke, we left to be more productive and eat Thai food instead. ahh sweet spring rolls. Koriente is one of the best places to eat downtown, and if not for their amazing food but friendly and consistent service. At least there are still a few good reasons to head to 6th street these days.
This morning Jake woke up early (before 9 am) to go flying. After breakfast, I decided to see my pal and fellow couch surfer from Arknasas, Chris. We went to Quacks for lunch and coffee, and we had a pretty sweet deal going as I showed him some more places throughout Austin while he told me the secrets to being cool. Apparently, all it takes is a neat hat and a willingness to sleep on peoples' floors.
But I was already on that.
